CAE - Academic/Exams Preparation Courses

Course Description This course is aimed at students who are interested in taking the Cambridge Advanced English Exam. The course focuses on developing key skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking at an Advanced level as well as practical exam strategies. Course Content Skills training (9.30-12.30) The morning sessions will focus on improving general competence in all four skills. Sessions will focus on how to develop these skills to effectively complete the exam. Vocabulary and Grammar accuracy for Use of English section of the test Developing skills for listening (gap-fill, listening for gist, listening for key words) Developing skills for speaking and writing (comparing photos, group discussion & collaboration tasks, essay writing, writing formats & styles) Examination Practice & Speaking test (1-2 Pm) Students will focus on practice tests, putting exam strategies into practice and building confidence with the format of the exam. Course Outcomes Gain understanding and confidence in knowing the format of the CAE test and what is required for each section Increase confidence with expressing opinions fluently on a wide range of topics in speaking Expand knowledge and accuracy of using and applying vocabulary and grammar Develop effective exam strategies with thorough exam practice
