and we work hard in all areas of our operation to maintain these
standards.
NIS is also accredited by BAC as a College level provider.
College accreditation is for independent further education
institutions which demonstrate the quality of their provision
to students, potential students and government agencies.
We are sure that you will find studying with us is a unique
experience. NIS puts on fun and interesting activities after
your classes and organises trips and excursions that take
place at the weekend. NIS is a great place to advance your
language skills, make friends, and socialise with other students.
NIS offers 10 General English (GE) levels, aligned with the CEFR. You will take a placement test to determine your level. GE courses are 15 hours weekly, taught in the mornings, and are mandatory for all students.
Courses focus on developing the four skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing, along with core systems like Grammar, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, and Discourse. Functional Skills are included to provide real-life practice.
All grammar and functions are taught communicatively, with outdoor activities for practical application. We offer courses for all levels, from Beginner (A1) to Advanced (C2). Upon enrollment, students take an Oxford placement test and a speaking interview to ensure accurate placement (check Public Holidays).
The 20-hour General English course is designed for students seeking a comprehensive foundation in English language skills, combined with a specialised focus on conversational or functional language skills. Students will complete the 15-hour core General English component and then choose one of two additional options: Conversation English Skills or Functional English Skills. This structure allows flexibility while ensuring well-rounded language development.
