Located in Newcastle's vibrant, multicultural city, Newcastle International School (NIS) offers a range of English language courses designed to help improve your skills at all levels. 

NIS is accredited by the following organisations:

  • British Council (UK Accreditation): Ensures we meet rigorous standards for English language teaching in the UK.  

        

  • BAC Accreditation (as a college): Recognises us as a college-level provider for further education.  

     

  • LanguageCert International ESOL Exams Approved Test Centre: LanguageCert is recognised by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) as an Awarding Organisation, offering LanguageCert International ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) qualifications.

             

NIS is an approved test centre for LanguageCert International ESOL exams, the Test of English, and the Young Learners ESOL tests. Our General English programme incorporates three key external LanguageCert exams at CEFR levels A2, B1, and B2. These tests are integrated into our courses to monitor progress and ensure students meet international standards, providing an external measure of their advancement. Click here to find out more.

Our structured NIS Language Competency Ladder is mapped to the CEFR and includes 10 levels, each offering 120–180 hours of study over 8–12 weeks. This system helps students make steady progress and achieve realistic language goals.

Our classrooms are equipped with the latest technology, including smart panels, and we use high-quality teaching materials, such as Cambridge English course books. We offer year-round courses, including General English, IELTS preparation, and Business English. For students under 16, we also run residential summer camps in partnership with trusted providers.

NIS provides a welcoming and dynamic learning environment with regular social activities, trips, and excursions, allowing you to make friends while developing your language skills.

 

Moving to a new country can be challenging, but we'll provide all the support and guidance you need for a smooth transition into student life, both before and after your arrival, when we place you with an excellent homestay family.

Living in a student-friendly city like Newcastle is fantastic. There is a variety of excellent accommodation options to choose from if you want to stay in residential accommodation.  Sharing accommodation with other students is a great way to meet new people and experience different cultures.  Please note that while we do not offer residential options ourselves, we can advise you on options and give you ideas about the closest locations to our school.

Once you have confirmed your booking, we will send you detailed information about your responsibilities during your stay, information on homestay life and guests, insurance, house rules, local information, student safety, overcoming cultural differences, student welfare, booking procedures, and any further payments you may need to make once placed.
